With fossil fuel reserves and rapidly declining worldwide scientific discussing the issue of global warming caused by CO2 increases, the race to find both a green and cheaper alternative to gasoline. Bioethanol can be a contender as possible, so that both the mainstream car manufacturer Saab, and the super car maker Koenigsegg now offer vehicles that can run on bioethanol.

Ethanol can be easily derived from normal Oil, however, because fuel bioethanol is produced from plants is considered a green fuel. The energy of the sun is used by plants to make sugar, which in turn is converted into bioethanol. Moreover, during the process of plant growth is also absorbing high levels of carbon dioxide of the atmosphere, the whole process is greener than the refinement of conventional fossil fuels.

Bioethanol is produced primarily by the action of enzymes and microorganisms in the cultures to release the starch and sugars, and then by a process of distillation and dehydration to produce a product that can be used as fuel in internal combustion engine cars. The added advantage of bioethanol is that it has a higher octane fuel than the standard 104 against 97, and bioethanol is used to provide higher performance.

Unfortunately you can not bioethanol in a standard gasoline combustion engine without making some modifications. The engine management system must be updated so the engine can determine that the fuel is running, and secondly Instead, the internal engine components must be hard, since ethanol can react with certain materials to form corrosive acids.

Despite the changes Saab needed now offers one of its most popular models of turbo fuel load with a choice of mourning. It can run on petrol or bioethanol and costs only a fraction more than the standard model, and their bulbs of car headlights through its alloy wheels that would be difficult to detect the difference. Meanwhile, Koenigsegg CCX offer its super car with a choice of bioethanol, which can produce over 100bhp more than the gasoline version.

Bioethanol has its detractors, with environmentalists fear that as demand for ethanol grows, more land normally used for growing food stocks will be converted into fuel for production. One study has argued that converting the entire U.S. for bioethanol will address three quarters of all arable land in the world.

While bioethanol certainly has green credentials is not viable as a fuel for the masses in its current state because of the huge land resources needed. But now no second-generation biofuels derived from waste stockpiles and third generation biofuels derived from algae. Biofuels algae produce 30 times more energy per acre than crops for biofuels, so that ultimately could be the future of green energy production.

One of the ways in which these modern environmentally friendly cars can be energy efficient and help improve fuel economy is by using the latest, high technology car bulbs which draw very low levels of power and so take less energy from the engine. For example, the modern LED headlight bulbs used for car lights on the new Audi R8, are brighter than standard headlight bulbs yet draw just a fraction of the power and emit light for over 50,000 hours.
